INDORE: No matter what the temperature is, no matter how chilly the wind gets, tough Indoreans know better than surrendering to winters. From garadus to till ke laddoo, the food revelers that Indoreans are, answers were hidden in some palate tickling preparations to beat the cold.
"I start my day with ginger tea, some times masala tea also as it helps me get out of my bed without much trouble.
It has to be at least five cups of ginger tea during this season. My mother makes some excellent til ka laddos for this weather specially. She says it is good for health and help boost the immunity," said Ayush Jain, an architecture student.
When it comes to food, every Indorean is an ace on the topic with endless discussions that center around just food and its health aspects.
"During winters we cannot live without heading out to relish some hot Garadus almost everyday, and when we can't manage to go out we prepare it at home. Garadu or yam is supposed to be very rich in fibre, and is very good for health. It helps to keep the metabolism active during this weather when people get too lazy to workout. But that's not we eat it for. This preparation is so mouth watering and when eaten hot I feel it can beat any other delicacy in the world," said BCom student, Pradyumn Bhusari.
For professor Ishita Jain, her answer to winters is hot jalebis and poha. "Indoreans can deal with any thing as long as they have their Poha-Jalebi combination to hog on to," she said adding, "Nothing beats the juicy hot Jalebis. One can go for hours without eating anything after having had this legendary combination for breakfast. And also there is Gajak. It is one of the most appropriate sweets one should treat their taste buds with during the winters."
